Vehicle Accident & 2-Alarm Fire

Around 11:18 hours this morning, 137 Rescue and Chief responded to Interstate 376 westbound for reported tractor trailer vs SUV. Crews arrived on scene to find one vehicle with heavy damage into a concrete barrier/ bridge after being struck by the 18 wheeler. The crash also punctured through the jersey barrier causing debris to fly in the air striking other vehicles traveling the other direction. Station 278 (Swissvale) was added to the assignment to assist with the incident.Traffic on the parkway was virtually shut down in both directions while 137 and 278 crews worked to remove the debris and fluid all across the highway. Gracefully there were no I injuries at this accident. Crews operated on scene for roughly an hour.

While still operating on the parkway, station 137 was dispatched to respond on the 2nd alarm assignment into the Borough of Munhall for a working house fire. 137 Engine started to the fire and was later joined by 137 Rescue crew after clearing the accident. 137 units operated on the 2nd floor of the residence for fire suppression. Crews found some stubborn fire behind the walls and in the ceiling between the 2nd and 3rd floors. The fire was then placed under control and we were returned back into service shortly thereafter.
