Cardiac Arrest with Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC)

Today, around 1330, two Edgewood Firefighter/EMTs were driving through Edgewood when a QRS call was dispatched for an apparent elderly male in cardiac arrest outside in the 200 block of W Swissvale Avenue. The pair were seconds away and immediately responded, starting CPR quickly.

137 QRS responded seconds later and the crew utilized their AED to defibrillate the patient twice prior to arrival of EMS. After additional advanced treatment from EMS, the patient regained a strong pulse and was breathing on his own. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and is currently recovering.
