Low Angle Rescue/Entrapment in Churchill
Tonight, just before 2130, units were alerted to an accident with possible entrapment in the area of Rodi Road and Route 22 in Churchill. Police arrived on scene reporting a vehicle that went off the side of the road, rolling 50 feet down an embankment and trapping one female patient. Only one tree was holding the vehicle from rolling further down the hill.
137 Rescue immediately responded with 4 rescue technicians, followed shortly by 137 Engine, Squad and Chief. 137 crews worked with 122, 304, and 227 crews to set up a low-angle rescue with a 3:1 hauling system. Once set up, crews were able to stabilize, extricate, and hand over the patient to awaiting EMS crews.
